IATP has been selected as a recipient of an AI Glasses Impact Grant from Meta that will help fund the WorkLens Initiative: Reframing Community-Based Employment with Smart Glasses.
Meta Community Impact Grant Spotlight
The WorkLens Initiative will explore how hands-free AI-driven assistive technology (AT) can assist workers with intellectual and development disabilities (IDD). As providers of employment services for adults with IDD are shifting their business models away from subminimum wage workshop settings to competitive jobs in the community, new technologies like AI glasses can help provide on-the-job support. Real-time hands-free access to optical character recognition that can address literacy barriers is just one example of how AI glasses can help workers with IDD.
Individuals with IDD interested in employment will need to apply to the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services to be eligible for an AT evaluation.
To learn more about the WorkLens Initiative and how to connect adults with IDD to services, please submit a request for more information.
